Mother pioneered the vegetarian food scene in Sacramento. With a downtown location and a punk rock attitude, they were a huge hit, making the no-meat lifestyle seem edgy and cool.

Years later, when the pandemic hit, Mother shut-down and decided to reset.

Now the restaurant is reopening with a new outlook on life. Instead of downtown, they’re uptown, in a more family-focused neighborhood. The owners are the same punk rockers from before, but they’ve grown up, bought a house, and had kids of their own.

Mother wanted a brand refresh that still felt familiar to their loyal customers, but reflected their new, more family-forward values, something that said grown-ups can be cool too.

That’s where Haloumi came in.

There’s a secret, ancient and holy, that no children know—

Mothers are people too.

Mother has never been afraid of mixing styles, textures, and flavors. They’re the perfect blend of punk rock flyers and handwritten notes from your mom.

Carnivorous plants, delicate florals, stamped letters, and giving the bird are all a part of the eclectic mix of design elements that come together to create the one and only Mother.
